It’s bad enough that we can’t get our hands on Marmite, but now some shops are running out of Vegemite.

Several supermarkets, including two large stores in Auckland, have run out of the yeast spread this week, the New Zealand Herald reports.

A Kraft Foods spokesperson says the supply issues are the result of a new computer system which has caused minor delays in processing retailers’ orders for the Australian-made product.

Vegemite should be back on all supermarket shelves within a few days.

New Zealand’s Marmite shortage began about four months ago, caused by a halt in production at the earthquake-damaged Sanitarium factory in Christchurch.

Production of the Kiwi favourite is not due to start again until October.
