A hungry request by a husband to his wife has seen the return of an 80s favourite biscuit to supermarket shelves.
Amber Johnson set up a Facebook page to bring back Choco-ades.
The 35-year-old's page was soon 'liked' by thousands and brought to manufacturer Griffin’s attention.
The vote was put to the public and after 14,500 people showed their support for the orange and chocolate biscuit, they were put into production.
As well as being responsible for getting Griffin’s to bring back Choco-ades, the biscuit maker is also using Johnson in their the television commercial, which airs later in July.
Johnson has also been involved in tasting to help make sure the biscuit is as close to the original as possible.
The first batch is now ready and will be hitting supermarket shelves from today.
“I can’t quite believe it,” Johnson said.
“I never thought Griffin’s would listen to my request, but they have and I am so thrilled that the biscuits are back…and I must admit my husband is pretty happy too.”
The first 50 official packets of Choco-ade biscuits are being auctioned on Trade Me with bids closing on July 12.
Proceeds of the auction are being donated to Johnson's chosen charity, Plunket.
